CARNIVAL AND SILENT AUCTION

Silent Auction 2019

The McGaugh Carnival and Silent Auction are the PTA's biggest events of the year and our largest fundraisers. Typically held every October, the Carnival provides family-friendly fun for the whole community. It features attractions, games, and booths set up and run by parent volunteers. It's a huge effort that brings the whole McGaugh campus together. The Silent Auction offers a wide array of items and services donated by the caring and supportive businesses and families in Seal Beach and surrounding areas.

What better way to get to know your McGaugh community than over ice cream? Typically held in the first few weeks of the school year, McGaugh PTA is proud to host the annual Ice Cream Social. It features McGaugh teachers and staff serving up sweet treats for kids and their families. It's a great night to relax and connect with others.

ASTRONOMY NIGHT

McGaugh held our first-ever Astronomy Night on a beautiful March evening. Families with children of all ages lined up behind telescopes to view celestial objects such as Orion; the Gemini twin stars, Castor and Pollux; and, of course, the moon. The Astronomers, most of whom are retired engineers and businessmen, study astronomy as a hobby and voluntarily share their knowledge and passion with local schools. These volunteers incorporate math and physics to explain the celestial bodies.

The McGaugh PTA provided our Sea Lions and their parents with a complimentary book on astronomy while they enjoyed hot cocoa and cookies while star gazing.  McGaugh’s wonderful parent volunteers and our astronomers made this night an “astronomical” success along with our "out of this world" parent-photographer John David Currey who took these amazing photos.
